Understanding  OTT

Over-The-Top (OTT) refers to the delivery of video and audio content over the internet, bypassing traditional cable or satellite TV providers. OTT delivers media services directly to users through streaming platforms and devices.

OTT Platforms

OTT Platforms are online content delivery services that distribute video, audio and other media over the internet. Examples include Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and HBO Max.

Streaming Devices

The rise of OTT has led to an increase in streaming devices such as Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV Stick and others. These devices provide access to various OTT platforms and allow users to stream videos directly on their television sets.

OTT Advertising Models

OTT Advertising Models are a range of digital advertising methods used by brands to promote their products/services on online media platforms. Some commonly used models include Display Ads, Banner Ads, Pre-roll Ads, In-stream Ads etc.

OTT Market Growth

The growth of the OTT market has been phenomenal over the last few years. The market is expected to surpass $300 Billion by 2025 according to Grand View Research. The increasing demand for online video content due to the growing number of viewers has driven this growth.

How Does OTT Work?

OTT works by delivering media content via internet protocol (IP) instead of traditional broadcast methods such as cable or satellite TV. Users can access a wide range of video and audio content through a variety of devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops or smart TVs with internet connectivity.

What are the Advantages of using OTT?

Some advantages of using Over-The-Top (OTT) platforms include greater flexibility and control over what content you consume. Users can watch from anywhere using any device with an internet connection. Additionally, since there are no subscription commitments like traditional cable or satellite services, people have more freedom to choose what they want to pay for and when.

Are There any Disadvantages to using OTT?

One disadvantage of using OTT devices is the potential for slow internet speeds which can cause buffering or interrupted playback. Additionally, multiple subscriptions from different OTT providers can add up quickly, making it harder for some consumers to afford all the services they want to access.
